PSM produces advanced ultra-low NOx combustion systems with the lowest emissions available from any source for the Frames 6, 7 and 9E-class machines and the 501D5. Today, we're taking these achievements even further - working to reduce emissions to the 2-ppm level and to eliminate the need for back-end exhaust clean-up systems. Success with this technology is being expanded to F-class machines.
Real-life testing.
Proving the worth of combustion system design advancements that dramatically lower emissions can't be done using only computerized analytical and design tools - even if these tools are some of the most advanced in the world. To take our technology to the next level, PSM employs rigorous and extensive real world testing in specialized simulation facilities. Our new combustion systems are run at full-scale engine conditions, allowing our engineers to both experiment and to experience the actual effects of operation at varying conditions - including the burning of alternate fuels.
PSM recognizes the growing importance of alternative fuels. Having the ability to burning an available fuel with different gas properties and BTU content allows plant operators to maximize their flexibility to take advantage of lower cost fuels to optimize profits. Toward that end, our simulation facilities allow us a unique opportunity to test such fuels and note their impact on operational parameters and heat rates.
Upgrade to a reduced emissions system.
For factory installed GE DLN-1 systems, our proven Low Emission Combustion (LEC III®) system "Upgrade Kits" replaces the OEM's hardware. In addition, for selected ABB, Siemens Westinghouse and GE frames, old technology (diffusion) systems can be converted to a LEC III system. PSM's LEC III systems are normally dual fuel capable for both gas and liquid operation.
